How I Wear my Hair.

Hello!  It is Saturday and my husband and I have been out and about this morning taking care of some things. I washed my hair this morning and since then I have hair on my mind. I have written about my hair routine already because…

Five Things.

Hello and Happy Friday!  I love Berlin. I honestly can say that my favorite part so far is Friedrichshain where a friend of mine lives. She recommended to check out this area but sadly she was working out of town and could not meet us.…

Rest.

Hello!

Do you listen when your body tells you to rest? I am so so tired today. Last night was hell. My husband and I watched a great movie, I wrote articles and then read a bit. Time just flew by, as usual. When we decided to go to bed at 2am our son woke up and an initial half-asleep talk turned into full-blast crying for about one hour. It was tough and I am not the most patient person in the world; especially when I am tired and would have just loved to fall asleep as son as my head hit the pillow. Well, staying up late and working late sometimes means that I am getting less sleep as I should.  Our son sleeps usually really well and he only needs two things. Darkness and silence. The silence-part is difficult while sleeping together in one bedroom. At this apartment we are renting here, they have blinds that do not completely darken the room which means this little guy is up way earlier than usual too.

If I did not sleep well, I am emotional, sad, irritated and get usually nothing done because I am yes, tired. Sometimes I have this feeling that even though a vacation is supposed to recharge and relax, traveling with a toddler (my mom hates that word!) is sometimes quite the opposite. I mentioned petit Joel’s routine yesterday and even stepping away from it slightly has some sort of crazy- effect on him. He cries longer, sleeps less and craves bad food. This does not happen all the time when we travel but sometimes and it is tiring.

Otherwise we are exploring Berlin like there is no tomorrow. We have seen so much already. From Checkpoint Charlie, to the Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor, Museums,  Tropical Island and so much more. I will write about all these locations on TripAdvisor soon. Exploring and discovering is tough with children at points. If I travel alone I do not eat for hours for example or just grab a little snack. Not with a toddler. Joel wants to eat lunch, preferably something warm. Little things like that are stressful. And (think Exorcism again) when he is hungry he IS hungry. I keep some snacks handy for him at all times. We take him everywhere and try not to make a big deal out of it and he is used to us traveling with him so it is all good in the end. Yawn….

So do I listen to my body when it tells me to chill? Sometimes. But mostly, I like to be on the go. I like to go,go,go and even though I am tired at night, I still stay up to write or read. I should listen to my body more and especially when it’s warning me that I am doing too much or that concealer for my eyes does not conceal the lack of sleep. With this being said, I am switching this computer off for today. I wish you all a restful, peaceful and quiet night.

How do you unwind or how do you allow yourself this most needed quietness and peace? I would love to hear from you.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Go The-F**k to Sleep.

Hello and Happy Hump-Day!  It is 9.30pm in Germany and I just came out of my son’s room to read him his two bedtime stories. Usually he is in bed earlier but we are traveling and my husband, Emma his daughter and I are sitting…

Valentine’s Day.

Hello! February 14th is around the corner. You know what this means, right? Going all crazy to find something for your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day. Usually my Valentine’s Day plans are somewhat like this: If my husband and I are lucky to be together at…

The Book Review: Die Kunst, allein zu reisen by Katrin Zita.

Less is more!

Book Lovin’ – An Addiction.

Do you know the problem of having too many stacks of books piling up in your house? I have this problem – a serious book addiction. It is so bad that I have books stacked nicely on my bedside table and on my to-read…

Great Discovery: Kids Playland – Indoor Spielplatz Frohnlach

Hello! It was nice outside today. Not warm, but sunny and blue sky but we still decided to test and try something awesome today. My friend Kirsten told me about the Kids Playland – an indoor playground in Frohlach and since then this place was…

Five Things.

Hello!

Wow it is late. I cannot believe I stayed out until 12pm. I did not write a post yesterday because of long conversations I needed to have with the love of my life. Afterwards I was exhausted and went to bed early. Him too. I love when a conversation is good and productive. Today was a great day but also full of activities and no time to write a lot. We ran around, errands and so much more. In the evening I went to my first All-You-Can-Read at my favorite bookstore Riemann with Anna Burkon. She is awesome and we talked for hours, too. Actually, almost four hours until my throat was so dry that I needed more tea. Do you know this feeling when you meet someone and know from the first couple of sentences you are on the same page? I hope we stay in touch and meet again soon. Good to find a new friend! At the bookstore I also met a friend I have not seen in almost 20 years. We have been to school together in 8th grade. Time flies! It was fun to catch up on old stories and talking about what we experienced in all this time. What a great day! Others than that, below is what I have been up to during the week. Read on if you like.

Reading: I finished Preethi Nair’s “One Hundred Shades of White” which I loved and bought my mom a copy. Read my review here. I started Dr. Rer. Nat. Hartmut P.A. Fischer’s “Das DMSO-Handbuch”. It is about alternative natural healing methods that have been forgotten. I will give an update on it soon. Tonight at the bookstore I purchased “Reasons to stay alive” by Matt Haig, “Die Kunst allein zu reisen” by Katrin Zita and “Ein Leben Mehr” by Jocelyne Saucier. The funniest part is that my husband is reading Saucier’s book as well in French and I had no clue that it is the same book. Well his book’s title is Il pleuvait des oiseaux. And yes, I just wanted to buy ONE book. Damn you, book addiction!

Watching: I watched a documentary on Osho because I read a bunch of books by him and wanted to know more about it all. I was sort of shocked. If you read some of his book but have not seen this documentary, I would recommend you watch it. It is worth it. There is one in German as well. Click here.  My husband and I binge-watched Family Guy Season 14 up to episode 12. I love this song when they are all in Korea. Hey Victor 😉

Looking forward to: Some great movies that will come out soon on iTunes or Amazon. “Anomalisa” is a movie that is on my to-watch-for sure list. Also this one with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Both together = cannot go wrong, no? Can’t wait to see it.

Enjoying: Traveling to Berlin next week. My husband, petit Joel, Emma and I will travel and explore again and this feels so good. Unfortunately my good friend Veronika won’t be in town but she gave us some nice tips on what to check out and visit. I just realized tonight how much I love traveling. Yesterday I have been at another friend’s house and she told me about Ireland and I just felt like packing my suitcase and going there. A bunch of people I know are in Thailand these days and post the most amazing pictures on Facebook. Today in the bookstore I saw a travel guide for Thailand. You never know. Open for it all and the food and beaches look amazing.

Realizing: How valuable and important time is and how little we have of it. Even more, how we do indeed spend it. Do we spend it with people we love? People we can learn something from? People who can enrich my life, give me ideas and tips? Or do we spend it with people who drain us and just use us as punching bags. The choice is clearly up to us. Do we want to be sad, depressed or inspired? Real friendship. How many real friends do you have? I can count mine on one hand. Really think about it and have a great weekend.

So we will travel to Berlin. Any tips you can give? Museums, parks, culture, I am open for everything. I would love to hear from you.

Thank you for reading my blog.

How to: Turmeric Latte

Hello!  Have you heard about Turmeric Latte’s yet? Here in Germany you see commercial for it everywhere. I found the instant mix at a local organic store but I still searched for a recipe to make this awesome drink on my own. Then I know…
