Here I am, just taking in the moment. Fully present. Just me and the music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yup yup yup yup yup. Completely immersed. Thinking about nothing else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rhythm. The musicality. The syncopation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is that the right word? \u201cSyncopation\u201d? That\u2019s a jazz thing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sync-o-pate sync-o-pate sync-o-pate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing\u2019s for sure: I am not on my phone right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t even know how many minutes it\u2019s been since I looked at my phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I am too busy listening to this song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it a song?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does it have to have words to be a song?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it\u2019s a piece?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019d be kinda pretentious. This isn\u2019t a museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mean it\u2019s \u201cART.\u201d No one is saying this isn\u2019t art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it\u2019s not Van Gogh. You can\u2019t listen to a Van Gogh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is that insensitive? He cut off one ear. But he still had another one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh, you know what? I bet they call it a \u201ctune.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Man, jazz guys are so cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That bass player is rockin\u2019 that flat cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t think I could pull that off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe if I carried a bass with me people would buy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does he get that thing around?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does he take it on the subway?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If he did, he could say, \u201cSHOWTIME!\u201d That\u2019d be a fun little joke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the bass community, is it just generally accepted that you have to have a car?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re a jazz player and you run into another one, do you give each other tips as a show of solidarity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m so glad I have the attention span to appreciate this music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not everyone could sit here and just totally let go of themselves like I\u2019m currently doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially not in my generation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, I feel kinda bad for people my age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constantly distracted. Unable to appreciate what\u2019s happening directly in front of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m an old soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are we still on the first song?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sorry\u2014first tune<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does the library close at ten or eleven?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m just gonna leave whenever the show\u2019s over anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mean, I guess if I know when the library closes, and the show goes late, then I can have a backup plan ready so I don\u2019t waste any time googling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll look it up between the sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is a group of \u201ctunes\u201d a \u201cset\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How come jazz shows don\u2019t have playbills?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do they decide how long the solos go?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I bet there are some guys who are, like, notorious for going way too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s like, are they showboats or are they geniuses?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be difficult to tell the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like\u00a0Airplane<\/em>. Now that was a movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denzel Washington is hot! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really liked La La Land<\/em> and Babylon<\/em>, but I totally zoned out during First Man<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It just feels like such a waste of time for everybody involved when you go see art and you suddenly realize your mind has been wandering the whole time thinking about a bunch of bullshit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whoa, the saxophone player has a flute now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wonder if he\u2019s seen Anchorman<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He probably gets that all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why don\u2019t they make mid-budget studio comedies anymore?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
